Once a teacher has assigned an ELA Skills practice assignment to their class, students can log on to their Freckle accounts to complete the assignment. Teachers can assign skills practice in advance and can also assign multiple skills at once.
- Students log on at https://student.freckle.com and select From My Teacher.
- In their Tracker, students choose the pending assignment.
- Students complete the Skills Practice assignment by reading and answering questions.
In reading comprehension skills practice, students can see both the text and the associated questions.
As they read, students can highlight text by selecting a color and dragging their mouse (or finger on a tablet) to select it. They can do so to identify key information and evidence, highlight areas of the text to refer back to, and much more.
As they complete the Skills Practice assignment, students can watch the associated help video. Students can also use the audio buttons to have the text read aloud.
If a student is stuck on a Skills Practice question, they can use the hint feature for support.
When a student is ready to answer a question, they select the Submit button. If they are correct, they receive a notification and move to the next question. If they are incorrect, they are notified and have a chance to try again.
Once students have answered all questions in the assignment, they see a completion screen that displays their score. Students earn coins for completing ELA Skills Practice assignments and can visit the Piggy Store to redeem those coins.
