Who can do this with default user permissions?
Teachers
Math and ELA both have different practice modes available to students. You can customize the student dashboard settings to restrict which practice modes are available for individual students or entire classes.
- Log into Freckle.
- On the home page, select Roster in the left navigation bar.
- Select a class on the Your Roster page. In the list of students in the class,
- To customize the setting for a specific student, select Default in the Student Settings column for that student.
- To customize the setting all students in the class, select Default in the Student Settings column for any student.
- You will see the Dashboard Settings tab of the Edit Student page. Depending on the subjects taught in the class, you will see the Math Settings drop-down section, the ELA Settings drop-down section, or both. Select the arrowhead on the left to open the drop-down section you want to work in.
- The practice modes available to the class are listed at the top. Select a mode to change its availability: a mode outlined in blue is available, a mode outlined in gray is not. You can also use Select All to select all the modes, or Select Defaults to select only the default practice modes for the class (based on the grade of the students in the class).
- Once you have made your changes, select either Apply to all [X] grade students in class (to give the same access to practice modes to all students in the class) or Apply Student Settings (if you want the settings to apply only to the specific student from step 3a).
When the specific student (or all students in the class you were working with) log in, they will only see the practice modes you have given them access to. On the Your Roster page, students who are restricted to specific practice modes will have Custom in the Student Settings column instead of Default; selecting either one will get you back to the Dashboard Settings tab of the Edit Student page.
You can further refine math availability by restricting students' access to specific math domains: see "How do I restrict the math domains or operations students will see on their dashboards?" for instructions. (This cannot be done for ELA.)
