Teachers
Freckle's Fact Practice helps students build math fact fluency by testing their ability to recall facts in the following operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, integers, and fractions—both accurately and quickly.
Digitalized fact practice and detailed reporting about student performance can help teachers quickly target specific facts for certain students and ensure that they are getting the practice they need.
To access the Fact Practice reports, select Reports in the left navigation bar, then select Math, and then select Fact Practice.
Student Activity Report
The Fact Practice Student Activity report shows students' fact practice sessions completed during a given time frame (customizable by the teacher in Freckle's premium edition). Teachers can see the total coins students have earned (from all practice), the number of fact practice questions answered during the time period, and the accuracy and total time spent on those sessions.
By using the drop-down arrow next to each student's name, teachers can see the specific sessions that students completed, broken down by operation. They can see the levels students are working on within each operation and their accuracy on each of those levels. This gives teachers detailed information about how students are performing in each operation and the operations with which students are struggling.
Fact Mastery Report
The Fact Practice Mastery Report shows student progress on the Fact Practice program by operation. Teachers can see all students in their class and what level they are each on in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, integers, and fractions. By selecting the small question mark (?) next to each operation name, teachers can see the total number of levels in that operation.
By selecting the arrow in the Report column (at the end of the row for a student's name), teachers can also see a more detailed breakdown of how students are doing on each fact. Select the various operation buttons at the top to see student mastery by operation. As students work through Fact Practice sessions, teachers can use the color key to see which facts students have mastered, which facts they are currently working on, and which facts they have not yet practiced. In the image below, I am looking at Eliza Collins's progress on addition facts. I can see which facts she has mastered (in dark green) and which she is working on (in light green).
Note that although Freckle automatically adapts to a student's "just-right" level, you can edit a student's level if you think it is necessary: select Edit Level above the upper-right corner of the table. You will see a pop-up window with the available practice levels for the practice area. The integer and fractions tabs show advanced operations with level, facts, and the status.
This report works in tandem with the Fact Practice Activity Report. You can use the Mastery Report to see what facts students are currently practicing, and the Activity Report to see how well they are doing when they practice them.
Select the appropriate level for your student. When you confirm the change by selecting Update Level, this will replace the student's starting and current levels with the selected practice level. Note: Prior progress made in this domain will no longer be available.
Together, these reports help teachers stay better informed about student progress towards fact fluency, utilize that information to give students targeted practice, and ensure that students are building skills that will enable them to be strong mathematicians.
