However, upgrading to Freckle Premium Edition will provide teachers with unlimited access to all content and reporting, allowing them to pinpoint exactly how to support each student and providing the ability to pair that support with the perfect piece of content.
Existing student data will not be affected by switching between the free and Premium Editions of Freckle.
Free versus Paid by Subject
Students will never encounter a paywall on the student program. Only teachers will encounter paywalls and be prevented from accessing certain features/content.
Math
What's free for students?
In math, students will have complete access to all forms of independent practice on the student dashboard. Student-led adaptive practice, targeted practice, fact practice, number facts/basics, etc. are all free for students to use as frequently as they'd like (apart from Fact Practice which is limited to 2× per day for all users, paid and free). For premium users with Star Math integration, students will also have access to Focus Skills.
What's free for teachers?
In math, teachers will be able to access the following for free:
- Activity Feed data for all students
- Report Card data is available for all students
- The Performance by Standard/Topic Report is only available for Premium Edition users.
- Fact Practice data is available for all students
- All reports will only include data for today, yesterday, and the current week
- 4 inquiry-based lessons in each grade level
- Constructed response prompts
- Standards page and relevant resources (videos, sample questions, etc.)
- Freckle's free version provides 1 assignment per week, per class/roster. You can apply them to any assignment type, including printables, for any subject.
What else is included with Freckle premium for students?
Nothing, all paywalls are restricted to the teacher home only.
What else is included with Freckle premium for teachers?
With Freckle Premium in math, teachers will be able to access the following:
- All usage data reports for all students, customizable and with past data available
- All performance data reports for all students, customizable and with past data available
- Unlimited assignments of all types
- Full access to the inquiry-based lesson library
- Unlimited benchmark assessments
- Unlimited printable worksheets
- Unlimited constructed response prompts

ELA
What's free for students?
In ELA, students will have complete access to all forms of independent practice on the student dashboard. Student-led ELA Skills practice, the student article library, Word Study, Decodables, Sight words, etc. are all free for students to use as frequently as they'd like.
What's free for teachers?
In ELA, teachers will be able to access the following for free:
- Activity Feed data for all students for today, yesterday, and the current week
- ELA Report Card data for 3 students only
- Performance by Standard/Topic Report is available for Premium Edition users only
- Robust ELA pre-test report
- Access to the complete Freckle library of articles/stories
- Standards page and relevant resources (videos, sample questions, etc.)
- Freckle's free version provides 1 assignment per week, per class/roster. You can apply them towards any assignment type, including printables, for any subject.

Social Studies is a feature of Freckle Premium Edition; only paid users can access it.
Science
What's free for students?
Students will not be able to complete practice in Science unless they receive an assignment from their teacher. Currently, there is not student-driven practice available in this subject.
What's free for teachers?
Each Science unit will be composed of a mix of free and paid offerings. Generally speaking, the introductory materials and the first lesson of the unit will be available to free teachers, while the remainder of the unit will either be paid or offer only select lessons for free users. Teachers can access limited data on student performance on Social Studies articles.
What else is included with Freckle premium for students?
Nothing, all paywalls are restricted to the teacher home only.
What else is included with Freckle premium for teachers?
Freckle Science currently covers all NGSS standards in grades K–8. Users of Freckle Premium that have access to Science will be able to access all parts of each of the 30+ Social Studies units, including the following:
